ABOUT ARIEL

****As of April 1, 2024 I am not accepting new clients

My name is Ariel Berg-DiGangi (she/her), I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Montana who has been in the Missoula area for over a decade. I spent over five years in the hospice field doing death and dying work previous to opening Thyme Counseling, and preceding that I spent a significant portion of my professional career in adult mental health. Grief work is only one of my passions and specialties, please see my list of other specialties. Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community also gives me a unique and personal perspective to issues experienced within the community, and I also do a lot of relationship and family of origin work with my clients focusing on the attachments we form to the people and things around us.

I also do couples work, working with couples of all genders and sexual orientations. I am a sex positive, kink and consensually non-monogomous affirmative counselor. I have completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work. You can find more about Gottman Method Couples Therapy here.

I approach grief and loss with Stroebe and Shut's Dual Process Model perspective (and apply this model to other issues that you may be facing such as job loss, pet loss, divorce/separation, loss of a relationship), focusing on moving through our grief experiences while attending to life matters that don't stop while we are grieving.

I primarily work with adults aged 16 and older, however I do work with children and adolescents in acute grief situations as well as LGBTQI matters.
